" So here’s the thing about Team Shark and professor Daniel…… you have to be willing to do the work. If you’re looking for a place to put in little effort this is not the place for you. Our family has been a part of this gym for 4 years and we plan to stay for as long as professor will have us. Not only has our daughter learned from and trained with a WORLD CHAMPION…. She has gained confidence, self awareness and learned about hard work. Team Shark, Daniel Pinheiro BJJ is located in Castle Hills, San Antonio, Texas. We are a family oriented IBJJF registered, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts gym. We have classes for kids, adults, and even one on one private lessons.

What is Brazilian Jui-Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu also known as BJJ is a grappling martial art that focuses on fighting from any position and submissions such as joint locks and chokes. It is a sister sport to Judo and focuses on ground fighting.
No. BJJ is perfect for any age and level of physical fitness.
There is no need to get fit to start working out. In each class, do what you can, take the breaks you need. Before long, you’ll be doing the whole class and wanting to do a second or third class in a row!
Daniel Pinheiro teaches all classes. He is a 4th degree BJJ black belt and has been practicing BJJ since 1990. He is also an IBJJF certified referee. He had numerous amateur MMA fights and is 4-1 in his pro-MMA fights. Occasionally, we will have guest instructors. We ensure that these guest instructors are qualified in their respective professions before allowing them to teach.
Absolutely! Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is highly female-friendly. Our classes welcome everyone, and many women find BJJ to be an empowering way to get fit, learn practical self-defense, and be part of a supportive community. Our instructors make sure everyone feels comfortable, no matter their experience level or fitness background. A Final Word from Professor Daniel Pinheiro
When I was younger in Brazil there were a lot of fights in the streets. Usually, the older kids would get the better of us. My grandma decided that I should learn self-defense.
We were lucky because at the end of her street was a police department. The sergeant their taught Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and I started training when I was 11.
Jiu-Jitsu saved my life.
We came from a rough environment, there were only 2 choices. You either study or become somebody, or you get in trouble.
We did the first option, and also made sure that Jiu-jitsu was part of our daily routine as a plan b.
My dad taught me that hard work is more valued more than money.
I was raised on those principles and that is how my gym is now.
We combine this with our core beliefs of loyalty, honor, respect, and love to ensure that our gym is inclusive and everyone feels like family.
